StartLine MX

Terms of use

Last updated 5 October 2026

These terms apply when you use StartLine MX (startlinemx.co.uk). By creating an account or entering a meeting you agree to them. Please read them, especially the sections on entries and refunds and the risks of motorsport.

1. About us

StartLine MX is run by Ben Overd, a sole trader trading as StartLine MX ("we", "us"). Contact: [email protected].

2. What StartLine MX does

StartLine MX is an online booking platform. Motocross clubs use it to publish meetings, take entries and run race day. Riders use it to keep their details in one place and enter meetings.

We are not the organiser of any meeting. Each meeting is run by the club named on its page. When you enter, your agreement to take part is with that club. The club sets the classes, prices, entry and refund deadlines, and the rules of the event, and is responsible for running it. These rules include its governing body's rules, such as the ACU or AMCA.

3. Your account

  • StartLine MX is for riders aged 18 and over. You must be 18 or over to hold an account, and every rider you add must also be 18 or over.
  • Keep your details accurate, especially date of birth, licence, emergency contact and medical information, since clubs rely on them for eligibility and safety.
  • Keep your password private. You're responsible for entries made from your account.
  • Don't misuse the site. That means no false entries, attempts to get around payment, interfering with the site, or scraping other people's information. We may suspend accounts that do.

4. Entries and payment

  • An entry is only confirmed once payment has been taken and you've received a confirmation email. An unpaid entry holds its place for a short time and is then released.
  • Entry fees are paid to the club through Stripe. The club is the seller of the entry.
  • A booking fee is added to each checkout and kept by StartLine MX for providing the service. It's shown before you pay.
  • Club memberships bought on StartLine MX are sold by the club, under the club's own rules. The booking fee applies and isn't refundable. Contact the club about any membership refund.
  • Discount codes are issued by clubs, can be withdrawn at any time, and only reduce entry fees, not the booking fee.
  • It's your responsibility to choose classes you're eligible for. Clubs may refuse or cancel entries that don't meet the class or event rules, in line with their refund policy.

5. Cancellations and refunds

  • If you cancel: you can cancel from My Entries. If you cancel before the meeting's refund deadline, the entry fee is refunded less any admin fee the club charges. Both are shown before you confirm. After the deadline, refunds are at the club's discretion. The booking fee is non-refundable when you cancel.
  • If the club cancels the meeting: you'll get a full refund, including the booking fee.
  • If the club cancels or rejects your entry: the club decides the refund in line with its policy and the event rules.
  • Refunds go back to the card you paid with and usually arrive within 5–10 working days.
  • Entries are bookings for a leisure event on a specific date. This means the 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations does not apply. Your other legal rights are not affected.

6. Motorsport is dangerous

Motocross carries a real risk of serious injury or death to riders, officials, volunteers and spectators. Taking part, marshalling or attending is your own decision. You'll be required to follow the organiser's rules, sign on, and meet the safety and licence requirements of the event. StartLine MX does not run, supervise or insure any event. Insurance and safety at a meeting are the responsibility of the organising club and its governing body.

7. Volunteering

If you opt in as a volunteer, clubs can ask you to help at meetings. Saying yes is an arrangement between you and that club. The club is responsible for briefing, supervising and covering its volunteers. You can opt out at any time.

8. Clubs using StartLine MX

Clubs must provide accurate meeting information, honour their published refund policies, connect their own Stripe account, and use riders' personal information only to run their events and in line with data protection law. Clubs are responsible for meetings they publish and for the entries they accept. Additional terms may be agreed with clubs separately.

9. Our liability

  • We work hard to keep StartLine MX available and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. Meeting details come from clubs, so please check with the club if something looks wrong.
  • We're not responsible for how a meeting is run, cancelled or changed, or for anything that happens at an event.
  • Where we are responsible, our total liability to you is limited to the booking fees you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
  • Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law. Nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

10. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from Settings, once you have no upcoming entries. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. Our privacy policy explains what happens to your data.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Important changes will be announced by email or on the site. Entries already made stay under the terms that applied when you made them.

12. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts. If you have a problem, please contact us first at [email protected] and we'll do our best to sort it out.
